So glad to have your name and your email.
I have never seen such a painting that is so like an Irish Setter 😃 You have caught the character and the love they have for you freely and naturally given. Soft heart and caring.
I don’t want to bore you but I had a traumatic childhood and my mother a traumatic life.
For my birthday my father bought me a puppy which I think was his guilty conscience given that he did not want children and regarded them as “ Odious appendages”. This piece of information was to shape our lives.
However this little puppy was meant to be, she gave us unconditional love where there was no love in our home.
She saved us as my father worked in London so we had peaceful week days my my brother my Mother and myself.
I used to spend hours with her on the sofa on the floor when she was sleeping and my bed when nobody saw her !
During my life I had two more for my children who grew up with them and to this day they adore all dogs.
They lost their Daddy when they were at primary school, he had a Brain Tumour.
They were devastated.
There teacher asked me if I felt I could give them a puppy…….they needed to transfer their love and affection as they had a lot to give…..they never looked back. They had Poodle rescue as well who was small enough to wear their dolls clothes and be pushed around in their dolls pram……what a wise teacher and how grateful I was to see them both play with this little pup who needed loving as well. Rosie Red Setter fell in love with this little black bundle of curls. They had a huge garden to run in and the South Downs to explore.
Sadly I am not fit enough to take on the training required but my youngest granddaughter has 4 gorgeous poodle crosses who are such fun. She long ago rejected the idea of being married or having children, indeed when they were without the dogs there scribbled posters and put them all over the house with the message saying 50 reasons why we should have dogs……
So this Grandma bought the first Poodle as a surprise. Ami arrived home from school and saw me holding something and asked me if it was a monkey…….so I said no but it is a puppy, she dropped her school bag burst into tears and sat with me for a few moments The I put Ollie into her arms and that was it, more tears of sheer joy.
When I bought him home he nuzzled his way up to my neck which he immediately did the same in Ami’s arms.
The now grown up boys have dogs.
I have your painting propped up against the wall by my chair until I get it framed. Close enough to marvel at the way you have painted the coat as well as the look she typically gives lovingly. Every time I go to sit down just seeing her lifts my spirits following a Nasty divorce and the mental health that goes with this I am being looked after so well by everyone I know and the Mental Health people in my GP’s practice .
I am so thankful to have your art in my home, THANK YOU 😁
